Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced a $10 billion dollar investment in India at the Google for India live stream event. The function focused on contributing to accelerate India’s digital economy with this investment over the next five to seven years.

These investments will focus on four areas. First, enabling affordable access and information for every Indian in their own language. Second, building new products and services that are deeply relevant to India’s unique needs. Third, empowering businesses as they continue to embark on their digital transformation. Fourth, leveraging technology and AI for social good, in areas like health, education, and agriculture. Pichai hopes to use its investments for the public good, working to improve areas as broad as education, agriculture, and health.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi of India, tweeted about his fruitful interaction with Pichai. He said that they spoke on a wide range of subjects, particularly leveraging the power of technology to transform the lives of India’s farmers, youngsters, and entrepreneurs. During their interaction, Google CEO and PM of India also spoke about the new work culture that is emerging in the times of Covid-19. In addition to that, they discussed the challenges the global pandemic has brought to areas such as sports and about the importance of data security and cyber safety.
