President Joe Biden announced on July 21, 2024, that he is exiting the 2024 Presidential Election, a decision made less than four months before Election Day. Biden delivers his choices after the criticism of the poor presidential debate with former President Donald Trump, bringing Biden’s 2024 bid to an end.

Pressure from Party

The recent presidential debate between Trump and Biden has intensified concern among Democrats because of Biden’s illogical answers and lack of response to Trump’s false claims. The worry grew because of the following events, from the president’s interviews on ABC and NBC to the NATO summit, where Biden confused the Russian president with the Ukrainian president. As internal concern grew, the party urged Biden to withdraw from the race due to fears of losing the White House and concern about maintaining Democratic majorities in the Senate and House.

Trump’s Response

After Biden decided to withdraw to comply with the Democratic party’s wishes, Trump expressed his opinion on CNN, calling him the “worst president.” Trump believed that he could beat Kamala Harris more easily if she were nominated compared to Biden, believing Biden was forced to step down. The 45th president found the decision shocking but argued it could benefit the country.

Endorsing Kamala Harris

Upon Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and encouraged the Democratic party to support her. Harris made a statement accepting Biden’s support. She expressed her gratitude and determination, saying she “will do everything in [her] power to unite the Democratic Party” and win the election.

The Democratic Party will go through a structured process to go forward with a new candidate who can beat Trump. Delegates will play a crucial role in presenting a candidate to the people. Biden’s decision was revolutionary, and Kamala Harris is determined to win the nomination and defeat Donald Trump.
