Although it seems impossible, thousands of people are disappearing in Mexico annually, yet no one in the country seems extremely worried about the issue. Police forces and government officials have shown their indifference toward the issue over time, and it is beginning to upset citizens and families everywhere in Mexico.

As of September 2022, it has been reported that over 90,000 people have mysteriously disappeared, with authorities acknowledging that the actual number is likely higher. Most of these disappearing persons are between 15 and 30 years old and come from low-income families.

Many questions come with these disappearances, the main ones being “Where are these people disappearing to?”, and “How are we supposed to find them?” Many citizens believed the police force would help them solve their unanswered questions; however, police officers have remained quiet and indifferent about the situation, allowing the conflict to worsen further. One way that police officers have worsened the conflict is that between 2006 and 2020, over 50,000 people crossed through country borders without being identified, which would explain one reason for disappearances. Most of these people are now buried in mass graves, with no identification of their bodies.

Because of the unwillingness to help from police officers and government officials throughout this issue, many families have felt alone and distressed through difficult times without their family members, and have had to make efforts of their own to search for missing family members or loved ones, with no support available for them. The rapid disappearances in Mexico are devastating and are becoming a more prominent issue by the day.

Although we cannot directly help families in Mexico and physically be there for them throughout their trying times of struggle and confusion, we can make a change by speaking out about the issue and doing what we can to make a change from far away. If we want to help others and see changes, we must be persistent in our efforts to help people in need through their difficult times.

Aunque parece imposible, miles de personas despreocupan en México cada año, sin embargo, nadie en el país parece estar extremadamente preocupado por el tema. Las fuerzas policiales y los funcionarios gubernamentales han mostrado su indiferencia hacia el tema : con las horas extras, y está empezando a molestar a los ciudadanos y las familias en todo México.

Hasta septiembre de 2022, se ha informado de que más de 90.000 personas se han desentendido misteriosamente, y las autoridades reconocen el hecho de que el número real es probablemente mayor. La mayoría de estas personas dessaperantes tienen entre 15 y 30 años de edad, procedentes de familias de bajos ingresos.

Son muchas las preguntas que acompañan a estas desapariciones, siendo las principales “¿A dónde van a desaparecer estas personas?” y “¿Cómo se supone que vamos a encontrarlas?”. Muchos ciudadanos creían que la policía intervendría para ayudarles a resolver sus preguntas sin respuesta, sin embargo, los agentes de policía se han mantenido callados e indiferentes acerca de la situación, lo que ha permitido que el conflicto empeore aún más. Una forma en que los agentes de policía han agravado el conflicto es que entre 2006 y 2020, más de 50.000 personas cruzaron las fronteras del país sin ser identificadas, lo que explicaría una razón de desapariciones. Aunque no somos capaces de ayudar directamente a las familias en México y físicamente estar allí para ellos a lo largo de sus tiempos de lucha y confusión, somos capaces de hacer un cambio al hablar sobre el tema y hacer lo que podemos para hacer un cambio desde lejos. Si queremos ayudar a otros y ver cambios, es importante ser persistentes con nuestros esfuerzos para ayudar a las personas necesitadas a través de sus tiempos difíciles.
