- May 6: King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain attend the coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom. For the first time in 900 years, foreign monarchs were to the coronation of a British monarch.
- May 8: Voters in Chile elect the country’s far-right Republican political party to be a majority in the country’s Constitutional Council, tasked with rewriting the country’s old constitution.
- May 12: United States President Joe Biden and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez meet in Washington D.C. to discuss Russia’s war in Ukraine. Both leaders expressed that they will continue to stand with Ukraine through the war and hope for peace. They also discussed issues that both countries face, including immigration and defense.
- May 17: President Guillermo Lasso of Ecuador dissolves the opposition-led National Assembly to halt his impeachment proceedings upon the Assembly’s accusations of embezzlement. - June 27: After a prison uprising in Honduras that left 41 people dead, the government has begun implementing stricter policies on prisons throughout the country, like doing complete searches of prison cells in search of drugs and using more force on prisoners. New policies placed by Honduran president Xiomara Castro are similar to those of neighboring El Salvador but have also led to people questioning the Honduran government for possible human rights abuses in their prisons.
- June 29: After Mexico refused to hand over the presidency of the Pacific Alliance trade bloc to Peru by deeming Peru’s government illegitimate, the member states of Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Colombia reached an agreement. Mexico will temporarily give its position to Chile, from which Peru will obtain the presidency of this organization on August 1st.
