People have always struggled with discovering who they are and what they want to be in the world. Part of this revolves around sexuality and who they want to love. Recently, a new group of people has created a “sexuality” called Super-Straight, which highlights transphobic people and their hate towards the LGBTQ+ community.

The beginning of this sexuality started on social media. It traces back to a Tik Tok star, KyleRoyce, who explained in his video that he isn’t transphobic but rather prefers to date women who are real women, aka people who are born as a woman, not trans. People have been arguing back at Kyleroyce, calling him transphobic. The Super Straight Army has gone all through social media and has had a huge impact on everybody, but most particularly members of the LGBTQ+ community. Kyleroyce says that he invented this “sexuality” as an effort to prevent people from calling him transphobic. “It is not transphobic, and it was never meant to be” -Kyleroyce. 

All members of the Super Straight community have been facing death threats. There is evidence to back up each side of the story, but when violence gets involved is when things become heavy. The Super Straight community also began to call themselves new sexuality which is part of the LGBTQ+ community, however, sexuality created solely out of hate towards different sexuality is a form of hate crime itself. 

The account on Instagram, @onlysuperstraight has had a lot to say on the topic. One of the posts is shown below:

There have been mixed comments about the post, but the main thing that people have been pointing out is that the creator of the post misgendered the transgender woman by calling them a “he” instead of a “she”. People have argued that this has extremely disrespectful, resulting in another new word called Superphobic. Superphobic people have a fear and hate towards people that are super straight, not accepting their “sexuality” as it is. The colors representing this new “sexuality” are orange and black, and the community behind it makes sure to show it off as much as possible.

They have also been talking about how they managed to create a new “sexuality” amongst a global pandemic. Super Straight people argue that they don’t actually hate on people who are transgender, rather they just choose not to date them or who they are. People can respect that, but the fact that they are trying to make a big deal about it and make it something different than just being straight takes things to a much bigger level. Calling oneself “straight” is fine, but creating new sexuality is what really has ticked off the world. 

Regardless of what one’s beliefs are, spreading awareness about this topic is critical. There are many people out there who don’t understand the challenges that people have faced and some people don’t understand what is going on.
