Today I will be highlighting an exceptional ten-year-old from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Orion Jean.
Orion Jean has a goal to make sure that people who can’t afford Thanksgiving meals, can still have food to eat on Thanksgiving day. In his race to 100,000 meals, he is working hard everyday to decorate bags to put food in, and collecting food with the help of his partnership with TangoTab. From October 10-November 25, 2020, Orion Jean is partnering with the TangoTab to distribute food to people in need. If you would like to find ways to help out, check out the Race to Kindness website.
Not only is he donating meals to people, but he also previously partnered with Children’s Health in August 2020 to donate 500 toys to kids in hospitals. Orion is constantly finding ways to be kind, and he is the epitome of selfless.
In an interview with NBC5 news, Orion said “Many people have lost their jobs and are being put out on the streets… and these are people that look like me that don’t have the resources and don’t have these privileges, and I know I can help.” He is showing the entire world that you can start a revolution by starting with the smallest act of kindness. Orion is constantly finding ways to help make Dallas-Fort Worth and the world a better place, we all should find ways to make the world a better place as well.
Not only that, he even won the Think Kindness speech contest. With one small step at a time, we can all change the world as well. (Click here to watch his Think Kindness speech)
The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.” – Carol Ryrie Brink
Orion is giving without expecting any reward, and we should all realize that kindness and generosity aren’t hoping to be rewarded for your good deeds, but it is the act of doing the deeds, that is the reward.
I challenge you to find ways to show your thankfulness and kindness. Acts of kindness can be anything, no matter how small or how big your act of kindness is, it can always make someone feel happy. What is your act of kindness? Thank you for reading, have a great day!
